If I could give 0 stars I would! Ive never been here and only heard good things so figured my girlfriend and i would try it. We get there only a little over an hour before they close, walk through the OPEN doors while the open sign was ON to get blank stares for 5 uncomfortable seconds. I asked if they were open and they said they were closed because it was slow. This is the WORST excuse I've ever heard! If I did this at my job I'd get FIRED. I don't even WANT to try it now! Lost my business!

Excellent. I travel for a living and eat out all the time. This is one of those places that you don't want to miss when in the area. I know pizza is subjective, but this one was delivered to my room, cooked perfectly and still hot. Not greasy, great top quality toppings. I also ordered the chef salad. Very fresh and a great compliment to the pizza. If you are staying at the Fairfield at the Des Moines airport you could order room service from Johnny's, but that is the "same old same old". This was delicious! Take a walk on the Italian side! Well done! Glad the front desk recommended you!

So we stopped here after picking my son up at the Des Moines airport and I was very pleasantly surprised. It's not THE best pizza I've had, but it was darn good!! Definitely worth 4 stars. The service was great! Super nice server, we tipped well (we always tip well!) I would definitely have pizza here again when I'm in the area! Thanks for a nice and pleasant experience! (and I'm not a huge pizza eater!)

Busy but only because it has the best pizza on the south side. This place has a quaint, old school pizzeria feel to it. Nothing fancy. The staff are courteous enough and as fast as you should expect. The seating is sortof terrible though. You can either go into the main area were its a tad crowded and hard to get out or the window booths which are less noisy but drafty( its an old building). But the food makes up for it. The onion rings and fried mushrooms are great. The pizza we always order (graziano sausage, mushrooms, peppers, and onions) is incredible. Its crisp and full of flavor. It does take a little longer than some other places but thats understandable due to the amount of customers and to go orders. We order the cavatelli on occasion as well and that also very good. This place was always my #1 even when La Pizza House was in its prime. That place was for tourists. This place is for locals. Eat here.

We had good service, the onion rings are tasty and plenty. Pizza was excellent. Odd smell in the building, musty? No tap beer but bottles were cold. Waitress was fun.

Surprisingly good pizza for the Midwest. I hate to rail on the Midwest, but it is not the pizza haven. This was pretty good.

The pizza is good here. It's kind of an old type pizza joint. They make there own crust. It is somewhere between thin and hand tossed. The sausage is great, but the mushrooms were not fresh. Better then chain food. A lot better. You would be well served to eat here instead of a Papa Johns or a some other fast food deal. Two salads, medium combo pizza and a kids spaghetti was $28 with the tip included. One thing that is a little different. The waitress doesn't take your money. You walk up and pay on your way out. Not bad, but don't sit there waiting for her to show up and take it.

They have some of the best pizza in town. Very courteous service, Like to brag about their pizza when conversing with others about pizza.

This is the place if you're in the mood for a tasty Italian sausage pizza. The sauce is excellent, and the crust is delish. Oh, and the thin onion rings are my family's favorite (and they're picky). The atmosphere is VERY casual and 'southside' - no frills, but efficient and friendly service. It does get busy on Friday and Saturday nights, as large families seem to flock to this place.
